TWO OFFICERS INJURED AS NEW HAVEN POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT

(1/12/2009) NEW HAVEN- New Haven Police arrested 31-year-old Lawrence Jeannette on Sunday for his involvement in a domestic dispute where he physically assaulted a female victim. As Officers approached Jeanette on West Street walking toward Columbus Avenue with the victim, Jeanette became highly uncooperative and incited a struggle with officers as they attempted to subdue him for questioning. During the apprehension, Sergeant Jason Minardi received a shoulder injury and Officer Florencio Cotto received fractures to his hand; both were treated and released from an area hospital Sunday afternoon.

Jeanette was charged with: kidnapping in the second degree, strangulation in the first degree, threatening in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, criminal attempt/assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer and criminal mischief in the 3rd degree.
